Coert Steynberg was born in 1969 in Pietersburg in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Growing up on a farm he was constantly exposed to farm animals, mainly cattle and horses.
As a young boy he showed a keen interest in art. He started drawing at a very young age and by age 10, a school teacher entered him in a provincial art competition. Coert finished runner-up and won a cash amount as well as a professional watercolor set.
That early success was the catalyst that helped set him on a path to becoming a full-time artist. Coert is very appreciative of the success he enjoys as an artist.
He lives and work in his home/studio situated in Molteno, a small farming settlement in the Eastern Cape - South Africa. He lives with his wife Melanie, daughter Stefanie, 2 dogs, a parrot and 2 budgies. Goats and cattle roam around their home.
His work can be seen in many local and international private collections.
